One year I was writing about a Winter Pantry and I put down in the subject line "Winter Panties" -- oh, how funny! Anyway, it's harvest time and time to pack some things away for winter. I have to be gone this morning to help my Mom with some things. Tomorrow I will start babysitting. So wanted to go help Mom vacuum this morning.

My New Yogurt Maker
Connie Hultquist — Sat, 02/25/2006Ya know, I am too woolly and haphazard to make yogurt without a yogurt maker. I mean, with yogurt, you have to follow the directions. So I had to get a yogurt maker. I got me a wonderful one at the Salvation Army. I went right home and started the yogurt and, oh, it turned out good. The maker is a West Bend and it doesn't look like it was ever used.
Merry Christmas
Connie Hultquist — Sun, 12/25/2005I am up in the night thinking of Christmas Dinner at noon today. My brother Scott gave our family a nice ham for Christmas. I had two chickens out thawing for dinner today. And Papa says maybe we could have the ham, too. I said, "Honey, my oven is not that big." So we put the ham away for another day. Oh, men. At Christmas, they love to watch the little woman cook.
A Lovely Christmas Evening
Connie Hultquist — Fri, 12/23/2005Dear Christmas Mothers,
Last evening Lynetta came by for a Christmas visit. We laughed and had fun and drank a sip of the Cordial. And, of course, Lynetta took pictures and put them on the group. Peggy Sue had a merry time, too, although she was not allowed to drink the Cordial.
Lucy on the Internet
Connie Hultquist — Fri, 12/02/2005Dear Christmas Ladies,
Well, the Cordial is actually having a ball in the jar. The top has fizzed up and there is about an inch of fizz on the top. The top part is singing opera and the bottom part is doin' the rock and roll.
Mother's Winter Spice Cabinet
Connie Hultquist — Fri, 10/28/2005Well, ya all remember my kitchen is really small. So I have almost an extended kitchen into my dining room. I have a little spice cabinet in here on the wall, above where I have my crock pot on the top of the freezer. I just have little cooking stations here and there.
Good Morning
Connie Hultquist — Sat, 09/17/2005Well, I made it through the night. Thanks so much for your prayers.
I know I need to be into my homemaking. Jim is after me to make an apple pie. He is so funny. This is how he hints. He goes to the store and buys a sack of apples. Then he will say, "I am sure hungry for dessert."
And then I will say, "What kind?" And then he will look at the sack of apples on the table.
Then last night, he cuts some apples up in a bowl and puts honey over them, and milk, and eats them. His comment is, "Well, that will do for now." So I know I am to get to the apple pie today.
Happy Homemaking
Connie Hultquist — Sun, 08/21/2005Good Morning, Dear Housewives.
I am up early, straightening the house and thinking of household schedules and menus as I go. Doing the wash, I see I have a couple bath towels that I need to cut up for rags.
Tomatoes
Connie Hultquist — Sat, 08/13/2005Well, yesterday I got my ketchup made. It smelled so spicy in our home all day. Some ladies came to my door yesterday to invite me to their church. We chatted a while at the door and the one young lady says, "What are you cooking? It smells delicious."
I had my apron on. I said, "Oh, it's just homemade ketchup," and in a few minutes Papa came to the door and told about my ketchup. When I make ketchup, he tells everyone.
Evaporated Milk and Butter
Connie Hultquist — Sun, 08/07/2005Each morning, I think of how I used to make my butter go further and keep forgetting to write it down. I have written it down before but thought I would again because of all of the corn on the cob that many of you are probably getting from your gardens. I haven't made this butter yet this year but I will when I get to it. I used to make it a lot when the kids were all home. Well, usually, we used margarine unless I found butter on sale.
