Happy Housewifery

The Lord has made me a writer to tell of all the things the Lord did for me and, more and more, folks say to me, "Connie, your writings changed my life." And I think how my writings began. They started from my bed where I wanted to commit suicide because of a husband that was most of the time in prison. He was hopeless and I was hopeless, too. But the One I called upon was a miracle working God. I didn't live out of my circumstances but out of the Word of God. I had to live the life to write about the journey.

Connie's testimony about her healed marriage, first published in Above Rubies, a magazine that distributes over 130,000 issues, reaching over 100 countries around the world.

"When we met he had already been in and out of prison for about seven years, and was going back again for two years. We married in the prison six months later."

Wisdom from a Modern day Pioneer Homemaker

In this 105-page collection of letters originally written to subscribers of her Hidden Wisdom Yahoo group, Connie writes about old time mothers, submission, wayward children, gardening, old fashioned kitchens, the danger of feminism and much more.

Connie's character Ruby is a free spirited Depression era homemaker. Christian Joy used her mother's drawing of Ruby and an accompanying story as inspiration for a costume that she designed for an art show. Connie's stories about Ruby can be read at Mother Connie's Journal.

Since 2002, Connie has written letters to subscribers of her Hidden Wisdom Yahoo group. A sampling of those letters are archived in the Hidden Wisdom section here at Happy Housewifery and have been published in the Sisters of Wisdom newsletters.

The original Happy Housewifery newsletter

Connie, as a Titus 2 Christian Mother, has a heart to teach the younger wives and mothers how to love their husbands and children.

Some years ago, Connie composed and pasted together a newsletter with information and tips for homemakers called Happy Housewifery. Little did she know, when she paid the postage to mail out those newsletters, that someday her message would reach around the world.
